SUBJECT: Domestic Violence Incident - Homicide
LOCATION: 900 Block of 7th Avenue, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: December 8, 2024, 10:45 p.m..
On December 8, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Redwood City Police Department officers responded to a reported assault that had just occurred in the 900 block of 7th Avenue. The reporting party called RCPD dispatch and advised he had just stabbed the victim at their shared residence. Upon arrival, responding officers located the reporting party outside of the residence and detained him without incident. Officers entered the home and located the victim, who had suffered multiple stab wounds and was unresponsive. Redwood City Fire Department personnel and AMR medics provided the victim emergency medical care but ultimately pronounced her deceased at the scene. Personnel from the Menlo Park Police Department and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request for assistance to help manage a large number of witnesses who were located inside the home.
Once the scene was secure, Redwood City detectives took over the investigation. An investigator and a deputy district attorney from the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office also responded to assist. The murder weapon was recovered and the investigation is on going.
The sole suspect is in custody and there is no continuing danger to the public.
The suspect, identified as Juan Antonio Garcia (57) of Redwood City, was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on a homicide charge and other felony weapons charges.
