WEST SPRINGFIELD SOLICITS PUBLIC INPUT ON PIPER ROAD REDESIGN
West Springfield, MA: The West Springfield Department of Public Works will be holding a public hearing on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the West Springfield Town Hall, 26 Central Street, to solicit public feedback on the proposed redesign of Piper Road.
The Department of Public Works has been working with Pare Corporation of Holyoke to design a number of safety improvements to the Piper Road corridor. The proposed redesign will include a number of enhancements, including a redesign of the intersection of Piper Road and Amostown Road as well as improvements to a majority of Piper Road to provide for safe and accessible travel for pedestrians and bicyclists.
“I am pleased that the DPW will be sharing our vision for improving safety along Piper Road, a vital artery in our city,” commented Mayor Reichelt. “This proposed redesign will not only make commuting smoother for our residents but will also enhance safety, reduce congestion, and improve the overall quality of life in our community.”
The DPW and Pare Corporation will make a brief presentation at the public hearing on December 30 and then residents will be invited to ask questions and provide feedback on the design. Copies of the design are available to view on the DPW’s website (https://www.townofwestspringfield.org/Business/Public-Works) under the “Projects” tab.
