Man Arrested for Vandalism and Resisting Arrest
Officers arrested a man after breaking a window with a rock, then resisted arrest.
San Mateo, CA – On December 10, 2024, at 10:58 p.m., San Mateo Police Department received multiple calls from community members regarding a disturbance. The callers told police there was a man breaking windows at the Hillsdale Shopping Center.
Multiple officers responded to the call for service. When officers arrived on scene, witnesses pointed out the suspect. The suspect, later identified as William Chase, was yelling and being aggressive toward community members. Chase was quickly detained in handcuffs. As Chase was being detained in handcuffs, he spit on and kick officers.
Officers learned from witnesses that Chase threw a large rock at a parked car breaking the window. When officers were trying to speak to Chase, he refused to identify himself and complained of a medical problem. Chase was transported to a local hospital. While at the hospital, Chase’s aggressive demeanor escalated, and he kicked a nurse. After Chase was medically cleared, he was transported and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
