Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Eluding Suspect and Locating Vehicle
Newark Public Safety Director Emmanuel Miranda, Sr. requests the public’s help in identifying a suspect, who failed to stop for officers in a vehicle with a fictitious license plate on December 10, 2024
At approximately 4:40 a.m., the eluding incident occurred while Police Officers were on patrol around Fairmount and Springfield Avenues. They spotted a grey Honda Civic with tinted windows and no front license plate that pulled into an Exxon Gas Station in the 300 block of Springfield Avenue. The officers checked the rear plate (P97NUW) and discovered it was fictitious as the suspect drove from the gas station.
When the suspect reached West Kinney Street and Morris Avenue, the officers attempted a motor vehicle stop with lights and sirens activated. The suspect did not stop and drove away eastbound on West Kinney Street, then southbound on Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity and locating the vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
