On December 11, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Fremont Police Department Officers were dispatched to the report of a major injury vehicle collision in the area of Castro Lane and Mission Boulevard. It was reported that a single vehicle was involved in the collision. Fremont PD and the Fremont Fire Department responded to the scene and located the involved vehicle, which had struck a tree. The two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Fremont Police Department Traffic Investigations Unit responded and assumed the collision investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Driscoll Road, approaching Mission Boulevard, at a high rate of speed. The vehicle soon lost control and ultimately struck a tree. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and drug or alcohol impairment is unknown at this time. Excessive speed appears to be a significant factor in the cause of this incident.
The Alameda County Coroner's Office responded to recover the two occupants of the vehicle.
This is Fremont’s fourteenth fatal traffic collision in 2024. Eight (8) have occurred on Fremont roadways, four (4) have occurred on state routes, and two (2) on private property.
