Suspect Arrested Following Two Home Intrusion Incidents

The Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD) responded to two related incidents involving a male suspect entering residences in the city.
On December 12th, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a resident in the 2200 block of Rolling River Lane contacted 911 to report that an unknown male had entered their home and walked upstairs. The resident confronted the suspect, who then left the house. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the individual. An investigation revealed the front door was unlocked at the time of the incident, and no property was reported missing.

Later that evening, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a resident in the 4100 block of Eileen Street contacted SVPD to report a similar incident involving the same suspect entering a neighbor's residence. Upon being confronted, the suspect fled.

SVPD officers established a perimeter, and utilized an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to assist in the search. The suspect was located in the backyard of a residence in the 4200 block of Helene Street. He was identified as Matthew Scott, 39, of Simi Valley.

Scott was taken into custody without incident before being transported to jail. Scott is being booked for two counts of burglary (PC 459), resisting arrest (PC 148), and a parole hold.

The SVPD commends the residents who reported these incidents promptly, enabling officers to apprehend the suspect swiftly. This serves as a reminder to keep doors and windows locked at all times to help prevent unauthorized access to your home.
