Novato, Calif. – On Friday, December, 13, 2024, Novato Police held a DUI Checkpoint. 11 citations were issued for driving with suspended/revoked license or without a license as well as other moving violations.
 
The DUI checkpoint was held at South Novato Blvd near Sunset Parkway.

• 323 vehicles contacted.
• 39 vehicles directed to the secondary screening area.
• 9 drivers cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed.
• 1 driver cited for operating a vehicle with suspended/revoked license.
• 1 driver cited for a moving violation.
• No arrests were made.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
 
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
