Suspects Arrested for Burglary of a Loma Linda Home Connected to Additional Crime in Chino Hills

Kwan Isiah Smith, 27, Resident of Los Angeles, CA
Jerone Markel Pennington, 28, Resident of Los Angeles, CA

SUMMARY: On Friday, December 13, at 11:18 a.m., Deputies responded to a residential burglary report in the city of Loma Linda. Two unknown suspects entered the residence by shattering the rear sliding glass door and stole firearms registered to the homeowner. Video surveillance showed both suspects wearing masks and identifiable clothing during the burglary. A gray Audi sports utility vehicle was observed in the area at the time of the burglary.
At approximately 12:23 p.m., the Chino Hills Police Department responded to an attempted residential burglary which involved two unknown suspects and the same gray Audi SUV. Deputies were able to identify the license plate and confirmed it was the same suspects from the burglary in Loma Linda. During the investigation, the Audi was located in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). LAPD initiated a traffic stop and after a short pursuit, officers apprehended three occupants from the vehicle.
San Bernardino County detectives responded to Los Angeles and conducted a search of the Audi SUV. A firearm belonging to the homeowner in Loma Linda was located along with face masks, burglary tools, cash, and clothing matching the video surveillance from the burglary. Kenny Xaver Warren, Kwan Isiah Smith, and Jerone Markel Pennington were identified as the suspects in both the burglary in Loma Linda and the attempted burglary in Chino Hills. All Three suspects were currently on parole and Pennington had several active warrants for his arrest.
All three suspects were charged with PC 459 residential burglary and PC 182(a)(1) conspiracy to commit a felony. They were booked at the West Valley Detention Center and are all currently being held without bail.
