Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday December 9 - Sunday December 15, 2024
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2024:
2:38 AM Officers responded to a broken window vandalism at a residence on Cardiff Street.
8:38 AM Officers responded to Enterprise Drive regarding a possible package theft. Officer Lor arrested a 31-year-old female from Oakland for an outstanding arrest warrant. She was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
12:04 PM Officer Lor responded to the Sprouts shopping center on the report of a disturbance. A 42-year-old male was arrested for criminal threats and booked at SRJ.
12:04 PM Officer Lor responded to another disturbance at a school on Jarvis Avenue. A 43-year-old male from Newark was arrested for public nuisance and was transported to SRJ.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2024:
1:29 AM Officer Norvell & Officer Orozco investigated four window smash auto burglaries that occurred on the 37500 block of Filbert Street. No suspect information at this time.
3:58 AM Officer Medina located an unoccupied stolen vehicle on Crystal Springs Drive. The vehicle was released to the owner on scene.
7:25 AM/9:45 AM Officers investigated the theft of two older model GMC vehicles on the 39800 block of Cedar Blvd and 6500 block of Central Ave. Both thefts occurred overnight.
12:29 PM Officers responded to a report of a theft and vandalism on the 7200 block of Thornton Ave. A 32-year-old male from Newark was arrested for vandalism and brandishing a broken glass bottle. He was booked into SRJ.
2:14 PM Officers investigated multiple window smash auto burglaries that occurred near Central Avenue.
5:01 PM Officer Lor investigated a late reported shooting that occurred near Gateway Blvd. It was reported that multiple rounds were fired, and a bullet was recovered from a vehicle. No injuries were reported, and this is an ongoing investigation.
5:27 PM Officer Orozco investigated a broken residential window vandalism in the 6600 block of Rochelle Ave.
7:25 PM Officers investigated a residential burglary on Primula Terrace involving three unknown suspects. Reported losses included a Tesla charger and an air tire compressor.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2024:
6:55 AM Officer Williams arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant in the 6200 block of Lafayette Ave. A 35-year-old male from Newark was cited and released on scene.
9:10 AM Officer Berlanga responded to the 39800 block of Cedar Blvd on the report of an unwanted guest. A 46-year-old male from Oakland was arrested on a warrant, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. He was booked at SRJ.
9:52 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a report of gasoline being stolen from a company van. A 36-year-old male from Pleasanton was arrested for theft and a parole violation. He was booked at SRJ.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2024:
7:15-11:07 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash auto burglaries throughout the day. Two occurred near Newpark mall, and two occurred in the north end of the city. Loss included a wallet.
7:53 AM Officer Berlanga responded to the 34900 block of Newark Blvd. for a report of multiple vehicles with slashed tires. Possible suspect information was provided via Tesla footage. Ongoing investigation.
3:23 PM A victim reported the theft of a license plate from the 8400 block of Central Ave. The plate was determined to have been affixed to another vehicle that fled from officers.
5:11 PM Vehicle Abatement Officer Tanaka recovered a stolen trailer near the 6700 block of Baine Ave.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2024:
7:55 AM Community Service Officer Vuong investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on the 37700 block of Spring Tide Rd. There was no reported loss.
11:48 AM CSO Vuong investigated a report of a vandalized vehicle in the 5600 block of Forbes Dr.
12:17 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a report of a battery in the 36800 block of Cherry Street. The investigation is currently ongoing.
1:08 PM CSO Mora investigated a report of a stolen license plate that occurred overnight on the 8400 block of Central Ave.
6:36 PM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle theft from the 6400 block of Buena Vista Dr.
7:57 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary on the 36300 block of Spruce Street. Loss included glasses.
8:14 PM Officer Williams investigated a broken window vandalism at a residence on Par Ct.
9:01PM Officer Leath was on routine patrol and noticed a vehicle driving with no headlights on. A 26-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence. He was transported and booked at SRJ.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2024:
2:08 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near the 35200 block of Newark Blvd. for failure to maintain their lane. A 21-year-old female from Hayward was arrested for driving under the influence. She was transported to SRJ.
11:41 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a commercial vandalism near Civic Terrace Ave. There is no reported loss at this time.
6:52 PM Officer Herrera investigated a suspicious circumstance reported on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 23-year-old male from Newark was arrested for obstructing an officer. He was booked at SRJ.
8:55PM Officer Kapu responded to a disturbance on Enterprise Drive. A 40-year-old male from Newark was arrested for brandishing a deadly weapon and violation of probation. He was booked at SRJ.
9:57 PM CSO Vuong transported 33-year-old male from Milpitas to SRJ for outstanding warrants.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2024:
9:49 AM Officer Frentescu investigated the report of a stolen vehicle near Bettencourt St. and Haley St.
1:15PM Officer Shaffer investigated the report of a stolen vehicle on Newpark Mall Road.
10:03PM CSO Vuong investigated a package theft on Tallship Way.
10:16 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a late report of a package theft on Sand Bar Place.
