Hawai’i Island police detectives have arrested and charged 36-year-old Sione Siupeli Siale, of Pāhoa, with terroristic threatening and firearms offenses, following a weapons incident in Pāhoa on Wednesday evening, December 11, 2024.
Shortly after 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Puna patrol officers responded to a weapons incident on Pearl Drive in the Ainaloa Subdivision, where multiple calls were received regarding gunshots and yelling coming from a residence on Pearl Drive.
The victims reported to officers that Siale exited the residence and discharged several rounds from a handgun and threatened to shoot and kill his ex-in-laws.
Siale was arrested on scene without incident.
Area I Juvenile Aid Section detectives later obtained a search warrant for the residence to recover evidence and document the scene.
Detectives determined that Siale is prohibited from owning or being in possession of a firearm and/or ammunition.
On Friday morning, December 13, after conferring with Hawai‘i County Prosecutors, Area I Juvenile Aid Section detectives charged Siale with the following offenses:
