Motorcyclist Evades Traffic Stop and is Subsequently Apprehended and Arrested

VC 23152(a)/(b) – Driving Under the Influence
LOCATION: State Highway 18 & Rancherias Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Francisco Lopez, 36-year-old male of Colton
SUMMARY: On Sunday, December 15, 2024, Sergeant B. Motley saw a motorcycle near Thunderbird Road and Rancherias Road in the Town of Apple Valley. Sergeant Motley noticed the rider of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and attempted to contact the rider.
The rider sped away from Sergeant Motley, ignoring traffic control signals and signs. At times the rider also drove on the wrong side of the roadway to evade law enforcement, almost hitting other motorists. The motorcycle traveled into Victorville and eventually turned into a cul-de-sac. Deputy T. Roberts quickly approached the suspect and detained him without incident.
The rider, Francisco Lopez, was arrested and booked into High Desert Detention Center on charges of felony evading, evading on the wrong side of the roadway and driving under the influence. Lopez posted bail and was released.
