Wilmington Police arrest male juvenile on gun charges, recover stolen vehicle:
Wilmington Police have arrested a male juvenile on gun charges and recovered a stolen vehicle.
On December 13, at approximately 10:25 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 300 block of North Madison Street when they observed a stolen vehicle. Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located in the area of West 9th and Gray Streets where the driver of the vehicle fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took a 17-year-old male juvenile into custody without incident, and recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun, and a second .40 caliber handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
The 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
- Resisting Arrest
