North Castle Police is reminding residents to be aware of potential criminal activity that can take place during the holiday season.
The abundance of package deliveries, often left outside and unattended for several hours, are an attractive opportunity for criminals.
Tips:
- Have deliveries made when someone will be home to accept the packages
- Have packages delivered to your place of employment
- Network with neighbors/ ask a trusted neighbor to hold on to your packages
We encourage all residents to do the following in order to minimize the attractiveness of your home to would-be burglars and help prevent you from becoming a victim:

- Lock the doors to your home
- Activate your burglar alarm system/ surveillance cameras, if you have them
- Leave lights on in your house and use timers to vary the time of activation
- If traveling plan ahead for mail, newspapers, and deliveries
- Watch for any suspicious persons and/or vehicles in your neighborhood and report this activity to the North Castle Police Department ASAP.
Additionally, we remind you once again to
REMOVE CAR KEYS when you park your vehicle and remove any items in plain view so that you may deter criminals from stealing your property.
