On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 6:00 AM, deputies responded to Rosemead Boulevard and Rush Street, South El Monte, regarding an injury-related traffic collision involving a semi-truck and a Metro Transit Bus.
The driver of the Metro bus was traveling north on Rosemead Boulevard and collided with a parked semi-truck on Rush Street. An elderly male bus passenger suffered severe head trauma and remains in critical condition. Several other passengers were transported via ambulance to local hospitals for minor injuries and complaints of pain.
“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our community. We are actively investigating the cause, and our thoughts are with those who were injured” said Temple Sheriff’s Captain Jorge Meza.
Traffic lanes on North Rosemead Boulevard between Rush Street and Klingerman Avenue will remain closed until the traffic investigation is completed, which could be several hours.
Temple Station Traffic Investigators and our Traffic Services Detail are actively investigating the accident scene and the cause of the traffic collision remains under investigation.
