Shop local this holiday

To encourage local dining and shopping, the City is offering free parking for up to four hours in municipal Garage B (28 Second Street), Garage D (215 Hudson Street), and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth Street). To redeem this offer, drivers will need to show the garage attendant a receipt for a $20 minimum purchase from any Hoboken shop or restaurant. The free parking is available on weekends through Jan. 2, 2025.

The City also offers a parking reservations program, allowing residents and visitors to reserve a parking space in Municipal Garage B, Garage D, and the Midtown Garage. Reservations can be made through the ParkMobile app and booked Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and from 6 p.m. on Fridays to midnight on Sundays.

The City is also providing discounted on-street metered parking through Dec. 31. Drivers can use promo code “PARKHOB” in the ParkMobile app to enjoy 50 percent off parking sessions in select business district zones. Eligible zones can be viewed by clicking here

As a reminder, the City extended paid parking requirements to Sundays along Washington Street in an effort to improve parking availability by increasing the turnover of parking spaces along Washington Street for patrons of local businesses. This follows the Hoboken City Council’s adoption of an ordinance last fall. The new policy requires payment for parking from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at a rate of $0.75 for 15 minutes or $3 per hour, seven days a week (previously six days a week).

Vehicles with a Resident On-street Parking Permit will continue to be exempt from paying the meter in resident permit parking zones (green sign/white letters, and white sign/green letters), seven days a week.

This change aims to also reduce double parking on Sundays which poses significant safety hazards for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians, and contributes to congestion by increasing parking availability on Washington Street.

Residents with valid Resident On-Street Parking Permits will receive a 50 percent discount when using the ParkMobile app, when parking in paid parking zones. This discount is automatically applied to parking transactions at all times, including Sundays, when the app recognizes a resident’s license plate number.
