Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection to disorderly crowd:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection to a disorderly crowd incident that took place in the 400 Block of Garasches Lane.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Wilmington Police officers were in the 400 block of Garasches Lane providing assistance during a sporting event that was taking place. After more than 4,000 attendees had entered and capacity was reached inside the venue, individuals seeking to enter the venue began being turned away, and officers on scene reported a disorderly crowd forming. Additional officers responded to that location, and police encountered several groups of individuals involved in physical altercations and causing damage to private property. During the incident, individuals were attempting to gain entry to the building, throwing objects and pulling on doors. One subject shattered a glass door, and another knocked down a uniformed police officer. The police officer was not injured, and there were no known injuries to members of the public during the course of this incident.
Police took 37-year-old Johnnie English, and 28-year-old Zamir McNeely-Coles of Philadelphia, PA, into custody.
English has been charged with the following offenses:
• Criminal Mischief Over $1,000
• Resisting Arrest
He was issued a criminal summons and released on his own recognizance.
McNeely-Coles has been charged with the following offense:
• Offensive Touching
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was released on his own recognizance.
