Man Arrested for Causing Fire in San Bernardino with Damages in Excess of $100,000

SUSPECT(S): Charles Banks, 39-years-old from San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): Metrolink
SUMMARY: On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 6:37 p.m., deputies from the Transit Operations Division - Metrolink Detail responded to a fire located at the Arrow Maintenance Facility located on the 900 block of 3rd Street, in San Bernardino. Metrolink employees reported a male suspect starting a fire near the fence line of the property and immediately fled the scene. The fire spread and caused over $100,000 in damage to equipment within the facility.
During the subsequent investigation, deputies located evidence identifying Charles Banks as the suspect. Banks was later located, arrested, and booked into the Central Detention Center on suspicion of Arson. He’s being held on $30,000 bail.
