SUMMARY: On Sunday, December 8, 2024, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Deputy Gentry from the Fontana Station responded to a road rage incident at Jurupa Avenue and Alder Avenue, in Bloomington. Gentry spoke to the victim who was headed home after his shift from work. Gentry learned three young Hispanic males in a white Ram truck hit his vehicle and damaged his side mirror somewhere off the Sierra west bound off ramp at Interstate 10. The subjects in the Ram truck followed the victim and pointed an assault rifle at him demanding his vehicle at the intersection of Jurupa Avenue & Alder Avenue. The victim feared for his life, got away, and was able to call 9-1-1.
Gentry obtained accurate information, broadcasted it to surrounding agencies and requested Sheriff's Aviation for assistance checking an area the truck was last seen in. As Sheriff's Aviation was checking the area, Fontana Police Department advised dispatch they had located a matching white Ram truck to the west, in the South Ridge area. The driver was detained, but two subjects had foot bailed. Sheriff's Aviation located the two subjects running in a dirt area and guided Fontana Station deputies toward their direction. The two subjects running were picked up by a white newer model vehicle and headed toward Jurupa Avenue & Santa Ana Avenue, in Fontana. Aviation tracked the vehicle and guided Fontana Station deputies to its location where they conducted a felony traffic stop.
April Campos, the driver, Angel Ruiz and a male juvenile were detained at the location of the traffic stop. Gentry conducted an infield line up with the victim, who positively identified two of the males in the truck who pointed an assault rifle and attempted to carjack him. Gentry conducted a secondary infield line up at the location of the Ram truck where the Fontana Police Department had initially located the truck with the driver. The victim positively identified the driver as the third suspect who pointed an assault rifle and attempted to carjack him. Deputies conducted an inventory search of the white Ram truck and located an unserialized assault style rifle, known as a ghost gun, with a high-capacity magazine inside the truck.
April Campos and Angel Ruiz were arrested and transported to the West Valley Detention Center where they were booked for the above charges. The two male juveniles were arrested and transported to San Bernardino Juvenile Hall where they were booked as well.
