...ACTIVE WINTRY WEATHER IN THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE... .The next front will push moisture northward. Lower elevations near Skagway may start off as a rain/snow mix before quickly switching to all rain. Cold air looks remain in place at the higher elevations where mainly snow is expected along the Klondike Highway. The Haines Highway will likewise see cooling temperatures and snowfall, with the heaviest rates occurring during the overnight hours late Monday night.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations around 3 to 5 inches.
* WHERE...Haines Highway, especially near Haines Customs.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Tuesday.
