During Christmas week, the McDowell Emergency Operations Center will remain operational to address urgent needs from our community as we continue supporting recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene. Citizens can reach out for assistance by calling the Helene Hotline at 828-652-3241. "While this holiday season may feel different for many of us as we recover from the storm, we remain steadfast in our commitment to helping our community rebuild and heal," said Director William Kehler. If you need assistance with debris removal on private property, McDowell County is here to help. McDowell County Residents Encouraged to Report Property Damage Following Hurricane Helene
Residents with damaged or demolished vehicles, personal property, or real property due to Hurricane Helene are encouraged to update the McDowell County Tax Assessor's Office. To report damage, please visit www.mcdowellgov.com/helene and click on the designated link. This includes reporting damage to cars, trucks, boats, campers, utility trailers, mobile homes, houses, and outbuildings. A member of the tax team will follow up with you to assist with your report. Your prompt update will help ensure accurate records and support recovery efforts.
