High Surf - Stay Out of the Water and Off Beaches
⚠High-surf-related water rescues continue in Capitola. ⚠
Two more surfers were rescued from the water off of Capitola Beach this morning. The surf is extremely high and breaking in abnormal areas. There is a high amount of energy and movement in the ocean in the area. Wave heights are tracking higher than forecast.
From @nwsbayarea, US National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area/Monterey California via X: Dangerous and life-threatening beach conditions are forecast with very high surf, rip currents, sneaker waves, and coastal flooding through Tuesday for ALL beaches along the Pacific Coast. Very rough seas, breaking waves to 40 feet, and extremely dangerous conditions.
Please be advised of the following:
⚠The Capitola Wharf is closed until further notice due to high surf.
⚠The Capitola Village may experience flooding overnight/early Tuesday morning.
⚠The Capitola Village may be closed tomorrow, if needed, for public safety.
⚠STAY OFF of the beaches and other low-lying coastal regions until this swell event subsides.
⚠STAY AWAY from the Santa Cruz harbor and wharf.
