It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Executive Protection Officer John Ellison, who was discovered unresponsive at his home on the evening of Saturday, December 21, 2024. Despite immediate transport to a local hospital, Officer Ellison was pronounced deceased at 7:00 PM.

Officer Ellison was a valued member of my Executive Protection Team, and his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the safety of our community will be deeply missed. His passing is a profound loss for his family, friends, and the entire Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

We ask that you keep Officer Ellison’s loved ones and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this time of grief. Further details will be shared once his family finalizes arrangements.
