The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.   

MONDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2024: 

3:57 PM Officer Lomeli investigated a robbery on Newpark Mall Rd.  

4:27 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a domestic disturbance near Sycamore Street. Ongoing investigation. 

8:43 PM Officer Orozco conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving without its headlights on. A 46-year-old male from Dublin was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.  

9:18PM Officer Soto investigated a window-smash vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Rd.  

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2024:

4:54 AM Officers investigated to a commercial burglary on Newpark Mall Rd. Reported loss included thousands of dollars in merchandise. Ongoing investigation. 

8:58 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a commercial burglary on Fircrest Street.  

9:08 AM Officer Diaz-Perez arrested a 43-year-old male from Newark for outstanding warrants near Cedar Blvd. and Cedar Ct.  He was booked at SRJ. 

9:43 AM Officer Losier investigated a report of graffiti containing hate speech near Cedar Ct.  

11:04 AM Officer Dale investigated a window-smash commercial vandalism on the 39700 block of Cedar Blvd. There is no reported loss currently.  

11:16 AM Officer Diaz-Perez contacted a subject near Newark Blvd. and Cedar Blvd. After further investigation, a 42-year-old male from Newark was arrested for domestic violence and resisting arrest. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

11:58 AM Officer Losier responded to a disturbance in the NPD lobby. A 23-year-old female from Newark was arrested for possession of narcotics and a violation of probation. She was transported and booked into SRJ.  

12:27 PM Officer Lor responded to a disturbance near Jarvis Ave. and Newark Blvd. A 24-year-old male from Newark was arrested for criminal threats. He was transported and booked at SRJ. 

7:08 PM Officer Norvell investigated a window-smash vehicle burglary on Civic Terrace Ave. Reported loss included cash left in the vehicle.  

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2024:

2:31 AM Officer Norvell investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Mowry Ave. and Cedar Blvd.  

3:42 AM Officers recovered a stolen vehicle out of San Jose, near Cedar Blvd. and Haley St.  

7:52 -11:08 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight throughout the city. Reported losses included power tools, a purse, and cash.  

12:04 PM Officer Medina investigated a report of embezzlement on Newpark Mall Road.  

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2024:

2:09 PM Officer Lor arrested a 46-year-old male for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

3:53 PM Officer Norvell investigated a commercial vandalism/burglary on the 38200 block of Cedar Blvd. Ongoing investigation.  

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2024:

4:50 AM Officers responded to a shooting incident on the 6000 block of Noel Ave. Please see Nixle release for more information. 

7:40 AM Officer Medina responded to an attempted vehicle burglary near the 39600 block of Balentine Dr. There is no reported loss currently.  

10:12 AM Office Lor investigated a package theft on Bowline Rd.  

10:56 AM Officer Berlanga investigated the report of a stolen vehicle on the 7300 block of Central Ave.  

3:15 PM Officer C. Torres responded to a domestic dispute near Mowry Ave. and Cedar Blvd. Ongoing investigation.  

5:08 PM Officers responded to a disturbance in the area of Cedar and Newark Blvd. A 38-year-old male from Newark was arrested for battery. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2024:

4:25 AM Officer Williams conducted a traffic stop near Jarvis Ave. and Haley St. A 27-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

6:58 PM Officer Williams investigated a report of a financial scam. The reported loss is over $10,000. Ongoing investigation.   

7:39 PM Officer Lara responded to a vehicle collision near Edgewater Dr. and Oxford Pl. A 43-year-old female from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence. She was transported and booked into SRJ.  

8:16 PM Officers investigated multiple package thefts on Weatherly Rd.  

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2024:  

3:29 AM Officer Williams was on routine patrol near the 6100 block of Thornton Ave. A 45-year-old male from Manteca was arrested for public intoxication and obstructing a peace officer. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

6:39 PM Officers responded to the area of Olive St. and Thornton Ave. for a hit and run collision. A 33-year-old male from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into SRJ.
