SUMMARY: On Monday, December 23, 2024, at approximately 05:33 a.m., Deputy Torok from the Fontana Station responded to a stolen property investigation in the alley of a residence located on the 10800 block of Dumond Drive in the city of Bloomington.
An employee of a commercial business located on the 5800 block of 20th Street in the Jurupa Valley area of Riverside arrived to work and discovered the business had been burglarized and had several company trucks, large heavy duty mechanic tool boxes and tires stolen.
The employee was able to check the global positioning system on one of the missing trucks and discovered it was located in the 10800 block of Dumond Drive. The employee drove to the location and observed three subjects later identified as Richard Gutierrez, Richard Smith and Dwayne Thomas unloading two large heavy duty tool boxes in the alley that belonged to the company and called 9-1-1.
Deputy Torok and three other deputies from the Fontana Station arrived within minutes and detained the three subjects without incident. Torok was able to locate two of the stolen trucks nearby, in the cities of Bloomington and Rialto. Torok learned Gutierrez and Smith were already out on bail for committing a burglary earlier this year and also discovered Thomas was on felony probation in San Bernardino County.
Torok requested a bail enhancement for Gutierrez and Smith that was granted by the on-call Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court Judge. Torok contacted Thomas' probation officer and obtained a probation violation for violating the terms of his probation. All three subjects were arrested and transported to the West Valley Detention Center where they were booked for the above charges.
