Theft from Macys Leads to Arrest
Suspect stole over $1,000 of merchandise and was arrested.
San Mateo, CA – On December 23, 2024, at 11:15 p.m., San Mateo Police Department arrested a suspect after she stole from Macys, located at Hillsdale Shopping Center.
San Mateo Police Department received a call from a Macys Loss Prevention Agent regarding a theft in progress. Officers responded as the suspect exited the store and was stopped by Macys employees. The suspect, later identified as Amberly Pennock, was detained in handcuffs.
As the officer investigated the crime, speaking to store employees and reviewing video camera footage, it was determined Pennock stole multiple items totaling over $1,000 from Macys. The stolen items were in Pennock’s possession and returned to Macys. Pennock was arrested for grand theft and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
