Stolen Vehicle Recovered and Driver Arrested after Short Pursuit
At approximately 7:54 PM, A Simi Valley Police Department Motor Officer located a stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Los Angeles Ave at Tapo Canyon Rd. The Officer requested additional units and followed the stolen vehicle to the area of Sycamore Ave and Los Angeles Ave where units attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop, continued south on Sycamore Dr. and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle eventually entered the apartment complex in the 1600 block of Sycamore Dr. where it began circling the area. After entering a dead end alley the female suspect, later identified as Ashly Armstrong, a 25 year old Simi Valley resident, ran from the vehicle. As she was running from officers west across Sycamore Dr. Armstrong tripped and fell head first into a vehicle that had stopped for the police activity and was taken into custody without incident. She was cleared by medical personnel and eventually booked Ventura County Main Jail for driving a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
