On 12/27/2024 at approximately 01:33 hours, Ptl. Shawn Kelly #301 was pro-actively patrolling the area of Cherrywood Townhomes when he noticed a fire on the 1600 block of Bryant Place off Winding Way. Upon closer inspection, Ptl. Erial, Blackwood, Chews Landing, Lambs Terrace, Glendora, Blenheim, Pine Hill, and Winslow Township Fire Departments along with Inspira Basic Life Support (BLS) responded to the scene. Fire resources quickly extinguished the blaze, and EMS transported one resident to an area hospital for minor smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was deemed to be non-suspicious and remains under investigation Gloucester Township Fire District #6 Bureau of Fire Prevention.
Gloucester Township Public Works crews responded to assist with icy conditions in the roadway. Occupants of one residence were displaced as a result of the fire and will be staying locally with family. This is a reminder to check your fire alert and suppression systems to ensure that they are operational. Smoke alarms are a key part of any fire escape plan. Where there is smoke, there is fire which can spread quickly. Working smoke alarms give you early warning, so you can get outside quickly.
