Police Arrest Knife Wielding Man Wearing Body Armor in Greenbrae
Greenbrae, CA –December 26, 2024:
On the night of December 26th, 2024, around 10:30PM, Central Marin Police Authority patrol officers responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of South Eliseo Drive in Greenbrae. It was reported that Ryan Bayless, a 36-year-old resident from Greenbrae, was waving swords around inside a permanent supportive housing facility. Officers received an update that Bayless left the facility and was walking on South Eliseo Drive. Bayless was located and given lawful orders to stop, but Bayless walked away from officers south on South Eliseo Drive, continuing to ignore police orders. Eventually, after following Bayless for 200 yards and deescalating the situation, police safely took Bayless into custody.
At the time of Bayless’ arrest, he was wearing a police style body armor vest and was also carrying handcuffs. Bayless was in possession of an unlawful switchblade and dagger which were the “swords” originally reported. Bayless was also in possession of two additional knives.
Bayless was booked into Marin County Jail for resisting arrest, possession of a switchblade knife, possession of a dagger, and violent felon in possession of body armor. Bayless would not speak to the police who tried to investigate his intentions.
