Prescribed Fire Projects this week in Moraga near Valle Vista Staging Area on Mon (12/30), Tue (12/31) and Thur (1/2)
Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District and Contra Costa County Fire Crew 12 will be conducting a prescribed fire project in the Tunnel-East Bay Hills Shaded Fuel Break near Upper San Leandro Reservoir and Canyon Road on Monday (12/30), Tuesday (12/31) and Thursday (1/2), beginning around 10:00 AM. The project involves burning brush piles and is intended to reduce wildfire hazards, maintain the Shaded Fuel Break and enhance conditions for native plants and wildlife in the area.
This project is dependent upon appropriate air quality and will be rescheduled if burning conditions are unfavorable. Our goal is to ensure the project objectives are met and operations are conducted safely with minimal impact to the community. Motorists driving in the area may see or smell smoke. Nearby residents should close exterior doors and windows to keep smoke from entering their homes.
MOFD will continue to provide information related to the project via NextDoor and MOFD’s Facebook page.
