The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.  
 
MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2024:   

6:48-8:56 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries throughout the city.

1:37 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a domestic violence incident on Civic Terrace Ave. A 45-year-old male from Newark was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail.

10:46 PM Officers responded to a suspicious circumstance on Dumbarton Ct. A 29-year-old male from Newark was cited for possession of narcotics and resisting arrest.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2024:   

12:31 AM Officer Cervantes investigated a domestic violence incident near Elm St. and Thornton Ave. A 25-year-old male from Newark was arrested for spousal battery. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

8:09 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated the report of a stolen vehicle on the 37000 block of Sycamore St.

9:40 AM Officer Kim investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Jonathan Dr.

11:52 AM Officers responded to the area of Newark Blvd. and Mayhews Landing Rd. for an unwanted guest. A 65-year-old male was arrested for a restraining order violation, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. He was transported and booked into SRJ.

11:55 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on the 5600 block of Thornton Ave. There was no reported loss.

11:28 PM Officer Orozco responded to the report of a suspicious person near Seawind Way and Weatherly Rd. A 55-year-old male from Newark was cited for possession of narcotics.  

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 25, 2024:  

4:30 PM Officer Kim investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on the 35000 block of Lido Blvd. There was no reported loss.  

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2024:  

11:08 AM Officer Berlanga conducted a traffic stop while on routine patrol near Cedar Ct. & Cedar Blvd. A 35-year-old male from Hayward was cited for a traffic violation and driving on a suspended license.

9:17 PM Officer Dale investigated a window smash vehicle burglary reported on the 5600 block of Mowry Ave. Reported loss included a backpack and a laptop.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2024:  

10:46 AM Officer C. Torres investigated the report of a stolen vehicle on the 6100 block of Thornton Ave.

2:59 PM Officer Medina responded to a disturbance on the 39800 block of Cedar Blvd. A 23-year-old female from San Jose was arrested for domestic violence. She was transported and booked into SRJ.

7:13 PM Officer Kapu investigated a report of grand theft near Jarvis Ave. and Newark Blvd. Ongoing investigation.

11:59 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary on the 39200 block of Cedar Blvd. Reported loss included tools.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2024:  

11:12 AM Officer Frentescu investigated a commercial burglary on the 6000 block of Thornton Ave. Reported loss included miscellaneous tools and two vehicles.

11:13 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a residential burglary on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. Reported loss included 2 electric bikes and tools taken from the garage.

1:18 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a domestic disturbance near Cedar Blvd. and N. Magazine. A 64-year-old male from Newark was later arrested by a neighboring agency.

6:40 PM Officer Lara investigated the report of a financial scam.

7:42 PM Officer Kapu responded to a disturbance near Spruce St and Shorehaven Ave. A 44-year-old female from Fremont was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She was transported and booked into SRJ.

9:45 PM Officer Williams responded to the report of a suspicious person near Cedar Blvd. and Edgewater Dr. A 44-year-old male from Newark was arrested for disorderly conduct.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2024:  

7:26 AM Officer Frentescu investigated an attempted commercial burglary near Thornton Ave. and Mayhews Landing Rd. There is no reported loss.

6:45 PM Officer Berlanga conducted a welfare check near the 39900 block of Balentine Dr. A 38-year-old male from San Jose was arrested for possession of narcotics and disorderly conduct. He was transported and booked into SRJ.  

8:20 PM Officer Lara responded to a commercial burglary in progress on Eureka Dr. A 32-year-old male from Milpitas was arrested for burglary, possession of narcotics, and violation of probation. He was transported and booked into SRJ.
