Advisory

New Year's Eve Operation Night of Protection is underway. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN

Today, on New Year’s Eve, I, SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN, along with Chief of Police Kevin Roberts, District Attorney Tasha Mosley, and Solicitor General Charles Brooks, want to make one thing crystal clear: We will do EVERYTHING in our power to protect the residents of Clayton County.

I've called in my deputies and reached out to Chief Roberts and all city police chiefs to join Operation Night of Protection. Together, we are ensuring that Clayton County is safe.

District Attorney Tasha Mosley encourages everyone to enjoy Clayton’s festivities responsibly and ring in the new year with peace, joy, love, and laughter.

Solicitor General Charles Brooks reminds you to use fireworks, not guns, and if you drink, do so responsibly—have a designated driver or use a rideshare. Any celebratory gunfire or reckless drinking and driving will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Police Chief Kevin Roberts wants you to rest assured the Clayton County Police Department will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners this New Year’s Eve to keep Clayton County safe. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely. Clayton County Police will be aggressively enforcing laws prohibiting DUI, and celebratory gunfire on this holiday.

Now let me be clear: the safety of Clayton County is my top priority. I will tolerate absolutely NO foolishness in these streets. If you’re planning anything criminal or dangerous, take it somewhere else. Georgia has 159 counties, but Clayton County WILL NOT  be the 1 or the 2.

My team will have the streets covered well into the New Year. Our residents will be protected, and anyone threatening that safety will face swift consequences.

This is SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN, and I am watching.
