Snow Friday Night 1-2" Monday - More Significant (Report to Follow)

From NOAA:

We are expecting two systems to impact the region bringing accumulating snowfall. The first will be tomorrow (Friday) afternoon and evening, with light snowfall amounts falling around the evening rush hour across far southeast PA, southern NJ, and Delmarva. The second system will be Sunday night through Monday, with more significant accumulations and impacts possible.

West Windsor Officers will be monitoring conditions and Public Works crews will be on standby in case they are needed for ice or snow.

Storm Update:

  • Timing: 
    • 1. For the light snowfall late Friday: Friday afternoon through Friday evening, including the evening commute. 2. For the light to moderate snowfall Sunday night through Monday: Snow beginning as early as Sunday evening, continuing through Monday morning and early afternoon. Light snow or flurries may linger as late as Monday evening.
  • Olaf Index (Snow): 6,
    • 1. Light snowfall accumulations up to 1-2" potentially impacting the Friday evening commute.  2. Light to moderate snowfall accumulations with potential for more significant impacts Sunday night through Monday. This may be the time to engage the Teenager-Shovel-App. Start giving them Fluffernutters for lunch so they are primed and ready.
  • Dorothy Index (Wind):  5, Small dogs should be secured to larger dogs or medium sized children. As always keep pets inside safe and warm. 
  • Elsa Index (Ice):4, Temperatures will be cold at 31 degrees! 
  • Roads: Use Caution. Road crews will be ready if needed.

  • Locations affected:  1. For the light snowfall late Friday: Portions of far southeast PA, far southern NJ, and Delmarva. 2. For the light to moderate snowfall Sunday night through Monday: Snowfall accumulations possible across the entire forecast area, with the greatest amounts most likely near and/or south of the Philadelphia metro area into Delmarva and southern NJ.
  • Impacts:  1. For the light snowfall late Friday: Snowfall and dropping temperatures could lead to slushy and slippery roads during the Friday evening commute. 2. For the light to moderate snowfall Sunday night through Monday: Snowfall accumulations, with potentially significant amounts greater than 4" within a narrow band near or south of the Philadelphia metro, could lead to snow covered roads and difficult travel Sunday night through Monday.
  • Confidence on occurrence:  1. For the light snowfall late Friday: Moderate confidence (50-70%) in the snowfall forecast and impacts to travel. 2. For the light to moderate snowfall Sunday night through Monday: Low confidence (20-30%) on exact amounts for any given area, however confidence has increased (60-80%) that much of the area near and south of I-78 will experience at least a few inches of accumulating snowfall.
