Snow is already falling across the region, impacting travel in far swva this morning.  For Smyth County, expect snow showers continuing through this afternoon, with a couple inches likely - making evening commute home messy!   Temps continue to plummet, and while we’re going to see sunshine Saturday, we won’t enjoy it since the thermometer will fight to get into the twenties.  The next system moves in Sunday, bringing a wintry mix, turning icy through Monday, making travel extremely dangerous.  And if that’s not enough winter for ya, look at the temps through the month - days in the twenties, nighttime lows approaching single digits.  Check on your neighbors, stay weather alert, make an emergency kit for the car and for home in case you get iced in.  It’s a great time to try out that new winter coat and gloves Santa left under last month’s tree!
