Winter Storm Watch for up to 0.25" of ice issued for NW McDowell starting Sunday afternoon.

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Significant icing possible. Total ice accumulations of one
tenth to a quarter of an inch possible. Winds could gust as high
as 30 mph.

* WHERE...Avery, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, McDowell
Mountains, and Mitchell Counties.

* WHEN...From Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Ice accumulations will create treacherous driving
conditions. The weight of the ice on tree limbs and power lines
could produce numerous power outages. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Monday morning commute.
