People: Check in on your elderly neighbors, family, and anyone you know that may be vulnerable in winter conditions.
Pets: Bring your furry friends inside! If it’s too cold outside for you, it is for them too.
Plants: Bring plants inside or use a sheet/blanket to cover plants that must remain outside.
Pipes: Cover outdoor pipes and spigots to prevent freezing and breaks. Also, don’t forget to turn off your sprinkler systems.

  • Protect Natural Gas Meters: Remove snow and ice from natural gas meters with a broom or brush. Never kick or chip snow and ice away with a hard object.
  • Unblock Vents: Make sure external vents for dryers and other natural gas appliances are clear.
  • Heat Source Alert: Never use an oven or a gas stovetop to heat your home.
  • Minimize Frozen Pipe Risk: Leave faucets running at a trickle, leave cabinet doors open, and close all doors and windows to keep heat inside.
Although natural gas outages are infrequent, if you experience loss of natural gas service or low gas pressure, contact the Atmos Energy emergency line at 866-322-8667. Atmos Energy agents are available 24/7.
