Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., a man parking his vehicle in the 100 block of Sylvan Avenue was approached by a male Hispanic suspect who demanded his vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect took the victim’s car keys and another suspect, a Black male, entered the front passenger side of the vehicle before the suspects fled heading eastbound on Sylvan Avenue toward Broadway. The victim’s wallet, containing personal property and his EZ-Pass, were also taken along with the carjacked vehicle.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS(1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
