NWS anticipates severe high winds increasing throughout the day and into Wednesday evening. Do not touch downed powerlines
The National Weather Service has issued a warning for strong winds through Wednesday, January 8, 2025. There may be periods of light wind, however, it is anticipated that throughout Tuesday evening, and into Wednesday, there may be gusts of winds between 50-100 mph.
Southern California Edison may conduct Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) methods to reduce the risk of fire to high-fire areas. Make sure your electronic devices and flashlights are all fully-charged in the event that you lose power. If power is shut-off, it may return in spurts or be kept off until the wind storm is over.
The Sierra Madre Public Works crew will work to pick up fallen branches and palm fronds from public right-of-ways. They are working as quickly as possible to keep the roads clear. To report road damage or obstructions, call Public Works at (626) 264-8914.
Red Flag parking restrictions will remain in effect for all designated areas. It shall be unlawful, to park any vehicle on any of the following streets or portions thereof in violation of those posted signs:
(1) Mount Wilson Trail;
(2) Churchill Road;
(3) Skyland Drive;
(4) Fern Glen;
(5) Fern Drive;
(6) Idle Hour;
(7) Canyon Crest Drive;
(8) Orange Drive;
(9) Woodland Drive;
(10) Brookside Lane;
(11) Sunnyside Lane;
(12) Yucca Trail;
(13) Holly Trail;
(14) Sturtevant; and
(15) Elm.
Exercise caution if you must travel, as there are many tree branches, palm fronds, and other debris throughout the City. DO NOT TOUCH ANY DOWNED POWER LINES.
