Crime Blotter for the Week of December 29, 2024 – January 4, 2025

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of December 29, 2024 – January 4, 2025.        
 
December 29, 2024

  • No significant activity.

December 30, 2024
  • No significant activity.

December 31, 2024
  • Grand Theft Vehicle:
2400 Block of Maynard Drive. Between 12 AM on December 25, 2024 and 10 AM on December 31, 2024 the suspect, a female hispanic adult that was the ex-girlfriend of the victim, refused to return the victim’s grey 2001 Honda Civic after they broke up. The victim attempted multiple attempts at obtaining his vehicle, to which the suspect refused to return it, and she even texted the victim to tell him to report the vehicle stolen to which he did. The vehicle was recovered by West Covina PD and the suspect was arrested on January 2, 2025.  
 
January 1, 2025
  • Grand Theft Vehicle:
1400 block of Highland Avenue. Between 4 PM on December 31, 2024 and 12 PM on January 1, 2025, the suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s parked vehicle, a black 2003 Chevy Tahoe. No surveillance video is available. 
 
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
1300 Block of Chandler Lane. On January 1, 2025 at 3:08 AM, the suspect(s) unknown, a male hispanic adult driving a silver-colored Nissan Altima, entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle, a red 2018 Chevy Malibu, that was parked in his driveway and stole his backpack from the trunk of his vehicle. Surveillance video is available. The loss was approximately $300.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS - VEHICLE SECURITY
  • An unlocked car is an open invitation to a car thief.
  • Lock up when you leave your car and take the keys with you.
  • Lock the trunk or tailgate.
  • Close all windows — professional thieves have tools that unlock cars through the smallest openings.  
  • When you park the car, remove cellular phones and other valuable possessions. Do not leave anything lying on the seat.
  • Lock all valuables in your trunk or take them with you.
  • Lock your car even if you are making a quick stop at the gas station, convenience store, or mini-mall.
