Pertussis (Whopping cough) has been on the rise this year and is now in the area.

Symptoms: According to the CDC Pertussis
- Early symptoms can last 1-2 weeks
- Begin as cold symptoms (runny or stuffy nose)
- Low grade fever
- Occasional cough which develops into violent coughing fits
Treatment:
Whooping cough (Pertussis) can be treated with antibiotics. If you know that you have been exposed, please contact your primary care provider and wear a mask in public settings.
Precautions:
- Stay home if you are sick. Wear a mask in public.
- Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds frequently.
- Avoid touching your face, eyes, ears, nose and mouth.
- Always cover your cough.
