Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Weeks of December 16, 2024 - January 5, 2025

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
  
 
Robberies
 
There were six robberies during the past three weeks.
 
On Thursday, 12-19-24, officers were dispatched to Target at the Serramonte Center on a report of an altercation. A loss prevention officer stated that the suspect entered the store, selected multiple packages of printer ink cartridges worth approximately $250, concealed them in his Target bag, and exited the store without paying. When loss prevention officers and a security guard attempted to detain the suspect, he began pushing past them. A loss prevention officer attempted to retrieve the stolen merchandise by grabbing one of the bags. The suspect dropped one of the bags he had and fled on a bicycle. Officers located the suspect in the parking garage. The suspect, a 27-year-old Richmond resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and outstanding warrants.
 
On Friday, 12-20-24, an officer was dispatched to Target at the Serramonte Center on a report of a shoplifting. A loss prevention officer stated that he observed the suspect, a frequent shoplifter, enter the store, walk to the laundry aisle, select multiple bottles of laundry scent beads, conceal them in a reusable bag, and then place them into his backpack. The suspect proceeded to select a box of pastries and exited the store without paying for all of the merchandise valued at approximately $124. The loss prevention officer and a security guard asked for the return of the merchandise. The suspect removed some items but retained additional merchandise concealed in his backpack. The suspect then used his elbow to push past the security guard and fled. The suspect was located at the bus stop to the rear of the store. The suspect, a 56-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
 
On Saturday, 12-28-24, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 88th Street on a report of a battery. The victim stated that while he was at the mailbox, the suspect approached him, began yelling, and attacked him. The victim stated that the suspect took his car and apartment keys from his hand and threatened him and his family. The victim was scared and stepped out of the building and called for help. Eventually, the suspect’s son helped retrieve the keys, and they were returned to the victim. This investigation is ongoing.
 
On Wednesday, 01-01-25, at approximately 1:59 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a robbery. The suspect stole an iPhone from the victim. This investigation is ongoing.
 
On Saturday, 01-04-25, at approximately 7:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to Target at the Serramonte Center on a report of a shoplifting. A loss prevention officer stated that the suspect and a female entered the store carrying two large pieces of luggage. Both subjects proceeded to the electronics department, where they began removing spider security tags from Xbox controllers worth approximately $313 and concealing them into the luggage. The suspect exited the store through the entrance leading to the mall. The suspect pushed a security guard and fled. Officers located the suspect in the parking lot and detained him. When officers asked the suspect for his name, the suspect provided a false name and date of birth. The luggage that the suspect was carrying still had a tag attached. Inside the luggage were two additional jackets with security tags still attached to the sleeves and multiple Xbox controllers. A manager from Dick’s Sporting Goods confirmed that the merchandise, worth approximately $983, belonged to their store. The suspect also had a credit card in his possession that belonged to someone else. The suspect, an 18-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, grand theft, petty theft with priors, giving false information to a police officer, and identity theft.
 
On Sunday, 01-05-25, at approximately 7:20 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Macy’s at the Serramonte Center on a report of a robbery. An asset protection employee stated that the suspect selected two boxes of men’s polo shirts and concealed them in a red reusable bag. The suspect then exited the store without paying for the merchandise. When the asset protection employee attempted to retrieve the merchandise, the suspect punched him in the face and fled. The loss prevention employee described the suspect as a White or Hispanic male with a slender build, approximately 5’7” to 5’8” tall, wearing a gray hooded jacket and black pants, and having a red cast on his left hand and a white cast on his right hand. This investigation is ongoing.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There was one residential burglary during the past three weeks.
 
On Monday, 12-23-24, at approximately 4:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of Brunswick Street on a report of a residential burglary. The reporting party stated that unknown suspect(s) broke an exterior window to gain entry. It is unknown at this time, if anything, may have been taken. This investigation is ongoing.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were thirteen commercial burglaries and two attempted commercial burglaries during the past three weeks.
 
On Monday, 12-16-24, at approximately 1:13 a.m., Kan Kiin Brunch & Thai Eatery on the 200 block of Southgate Avenue was the victim of a commercial burglary. The unknown suspect gained entry through the back door. The owner stated that the suspect took a space heater and cash from the register and safe. The suspect was described as a male wearing a black garbage bag over his body, a white shirt, a white baseball cap, black pants, black shoes, black gloves, a black face covering, and carrying a white plastic bag.

On Wednesday, 12-18-24, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Little Fire Pot on the 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard was the victim of a commercial burglary. The unknown suspect broke a glass window. The owner stated that the suspect took a cash register containing cash and a plastic container with cash. The suspect was described as wearing all black clothing, a mask, and a blue backpack.
 
On Wednesday, 12-18-24, at approximately 1:22 a.m., Nothing Bundt Cakes on the 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard was the victim of a commercial burglary. A front window was damaged. The owner stated that the suspect stole cash. The owner described the suspect as a male wearing all black clothing, a black mask, black gloves, and a black backpack.
 
On Wednesday, 12-18-24, at approximately 2:34 a.m., Dos Charros Taqueria on the 1600 block of Sullivan Avenue was the victim of a commercial burglary. Two unknown suspects broke the front door glass and took an envelope containing cash. The owner described the suspects as tall males wearing hooded sweatshirts and carrying flashlights.
 
On Wednesday, 12-18-24, at approximately 3:00 a.m., on the 200 block of School Street, a suspect pried open a mailbox at an apartment building. The property manager stated that it is unknown if anything was stolen. A resident heard noises, looked through her peephole, and saw an unknown female wearing a black jacket.
 
On Wednesday, 12-18-24, between approximately 5:15 a.m. and 5:20 a.m., e-laundry on the 7300 block of Mission Street was the victim of a commercial burglary. The owner stated that the suspect pried open the office door and took an unknown item off the shelf. The suspect then tried to pry open a coin machine but was not successful. The suspect was described as a dark-complexioned female with blue hair, approximately 25 to 35 years old, with a tattoo on the left hand, wearing reading glasses, a black coat, and a fur-lined hood.
 
Between Friday, 12-20-24, and the morning of Saturday, 12-21-24, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the 1300 block of Brunswick Street was the victim of a commercial burglary. The suspects pried open a door. The reporting party stated that nothing appears to have been taken at this time.
 
On Saturday, 12-21-24, at approximately 7:16 p.m., Victoria’s Secret at the Serramonte Center was the victim of a commercial burglary and organized retail theft. A loss prevention officer stated that three male suspects and one female suspect entered the store. The female suspect concealed fragrances using a large reusable tote bag. The three male suspects also selected fragrances, concealed them on their persons, and then placed them in the large tote bag that the female suspect was carrying. All four suspects exited the store without paying for approximately $1,255 worth of merchandise. The loss prevention officer chased the female suspect, who dropped the bag containing most of the fragrances and then fled. Later, an officer located the four suspects on a bus and recovered merchandise next to where the suspects were seated. The female suspect, a 20-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary, organized retail theft, contributing to the delinquency of minors, giving false information to police officers, and outstanding warrants. One of the male suspects, a 12-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested for organized retail theft and released to a parent. The other two male suspects, 14-year-old Pittsburg residents, were arrested for organized retail theft and released to their parents.
 
On Saturday, 12-21-24, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Keith’s Chicken and Waffles on the 200 block of San Pedro Road was the victim of a commercial burglary. An unknown suspect shattered the front window. The owner stated that it does not appear anything was taken at this time. The suspect was described as a male wearing an all-black hoodie, black pants, a black ski mask, and carrying a black backpack.
 
Between Saturday, 12-21-24, and Sunday, 12-22-24, sometime overnight, Hilltop Beauty School on the 6300 block of Mission Street was the victim of a commercial burglary. An unknown suspect smashed the front window and took cash from the register.
  
On Sunday, 12-22-24, at approximately 4:21 a.m., The Bread Basket Bakery on the 7000 block of Mission Street was the victim of a commercial burglary. An unknown male suspect shattered a glass window and took a cash register containing cash.
 
On Sunday, 12-22-24, at approximately 10:16 a.m., the Mekeni Restaurant on the 6300 block of Mission Street was the victim of a commercial burglary. An unknown suspect smashed the front door glass. The owner stated that the suspect took cash from the register. The suspect was described as either a Hispanic or Black male adult wearing dark-colored clothing, a face mask, and a backpack.
 
On Wednesday, 01-01-25, at approximately 2:45 p.m., AT&T at the Serramonte Center was the victim of a commercial burglary when an unknown suspect entered the store and grabbed an iPhone 16 Pro Max off the counter. The suspect was described as a male adult wearing a blue hat, a gray scarf, a gray hoodie under a green jacket, gray pants, gray shoes with white laces, and a black satchel.
 
On Saturday, 12-21-24, at approximately 9:38 p.m., Los Metates on the 200 block of San Pedro Road was the victim of an attempted commercial burglary. The unknown suspect attempted to break the window and glass front door but was unsuccessful. The suspect was described as a male wearing an all-black hoodie, black pants, a black ski mask, and carrying a black backpack.
 
Between the evening hours on Thursday, 12-26-24, and morning of Friday, 12-27-24, D Café on the 100 block of D Street was the victim of an attempted commercial burglary. The front door glass was smashed by the suspect. The victim is unsure if the suspect gained entry, and nothing was taken.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were five vehicle burglaries during the past three weeks.
 

  • Geneva Avenue and Castillo Street—nothing was taken from a 2022 Honda CRV. The front passenger side window was smashed. Occurred on 12-19-24 at approximately 9:13 p.m.
 
  • 400 block of Wyandotte Avenue—a folder containing a vehicle registration, insurance policy, pictures, and pens were taken from a 2017 Toyota. The driver’s side door was found open. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 12-20-24 and 12:00 p.m. on 12-21-24. **Online report.
 
  • Parking lot of Westlake Shopping Center near Safeway—a satchel containing a CA driver’s license, credit cards, a work permit, forms, a social security card, $150, and a chain necklace was taken from a 2013 Toyota Prius. The front driver’s side and passenger side window were left slightly open. Occurred on 12-22-24 between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
 
  • Unit block of Edgemar Street—tools were taken from a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The suspect was able to open the passenger side door to gain entry. Occurred on 12-25-24 at approximately 5:20 a.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Walgreens on San Pedro Road—clothing, shoes, and a sound system were taken from a 2005 Toyota Prius. The taillights, side view mirrors, and rear glass window were smashed. Occurred between 10:00 a.m. on 12-25-24 and 7:50 a.m. on 12-26-24.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were thirteen stolen vehicles during the past three weeks. Seven vehicles were recovered.
 
  • 200 block of San Pedro Road—a theft of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. Occurred on 12-14-24 at approximately 1:00 p.m. **Recovered by Colma PD on 12-26-24.
 
  • Evergreen Avenue and Mission Street—a theft of a 2006 Toyota Scion. Occurred between 8:30 a.m. on 12-15-24 and 4:00 p.m. on 12-19-24. **Recovered by CHP-Oakland on 12-19-24.
 
  • 900 block of Higate Drive—a theft of a 2013 Toyota 4Runner. Occurred on 12-16-24 between 11:00 p.m. and an unknown time. **Recovered by CHP-Contra Costa on 12-16-24.
 
  • 600 block of Villa Street—a theft of a 1999 Chevrolet Van. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 12-16-24 and 3:00 a.m. on 12-17-24.
 
  • Unit block of Oaklawn Avenue—a theft of a 2001 Yamaha YZ450. Occurred on 12-18-24 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
 
  • 200 block of Coronado Avenue—a theft of a 2014 Yamaha FZ-09. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 12-19-24 and 10:00 a.m. on 12-20-24.
 
  • 700 block of Niantic Drive—a theft of a 2020 Nissan 370Z. Occurred on 12-21-24 at approximately 5:10 a.m.
 
  • Unit block of Forest Grove Drive—a theft of a 2008 Honda Civic. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 12-23-24 and 11:00 a.m. on 12-26-24. **Recovered by SFPD on 12-27-24.
 
  • Serramonte Center near Target—a theft of an Inmotion Climber electric scooter. Occurred on 12-24-24 between 7:30 p.m. and 7:46 p.m.
 
  • Unit block of Woodside Avenue—a theft of a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Occurred on 12-25-24 at approximately 4:00 a.m. **Recovered by registered owner on 12-25-24 in Concord and notified DCPD.
 
  • Verducci Drive and Gellert Boulevard—a theft of a 2022 Honda Civic. Occurred on 12-26-24 between 7:35 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 12-27-24.
 
  • 1600 block of Sullivan Avenue—a theft of a 2000 Toyota Sienna. Occurred on 12-28-24 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. **Recovered by Campbell PD on 12-30-24.
 
  • 200 block of Station Avenue—a theft of a 2010 Ford Econoline E250. Occurred on 12-31-24 at approximately 7:13 a.m.
 
 
Miscellaneous (Three Weeks)
 
  • There were 385 cases taken.
 
  • There were 29 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 12 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 19 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 4 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 12 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 15 narcotics-related cases taken.

Currently, the Daly City Police Department is aware of a phone scam impersonating officers of the Daly City Police Department. The number that's being "Spoofed" by scammers is 650-991-8119, which is the front desk line of the Police Department. This phone number only accepts phone calls and is unable to make phone calls. If you receive a call from the phone 650-991-8119, it is a scam.

If you receive a call or voicemail from 650-991-8119 regarding a “cybercrime, fraud investigation, that you have a warrant out for your arrest,” or other similar issues, please do not give out any information to the person calling and hang up. Our officers will not call you from 650-991-8119 and would never ask for money, money orders, gift cards, or any sort of financial compensation. If you receive a phone call from this number asking you to come in person to the Daly City Police Department, it is likely part of the scam. Please first contact the Daly City Police Department, or your local police agency directly, and verify the request before going to the police department.
