Skating Rink Open Today at Noon (1/10/25)

The weather is cooperating this year. The Village Crew has put down enough ice to open the skating rink Friday, January 10 at Noon (today). Please be careful, there are a few open spots still on the open skating side of the rink. The Crew uses a flag system flying on the Heiden Haus to indicate the status of the rink. When the GREEN flag is flying on the Heiden Haus, the rink is “open” and ready for use. A RED flag indicates the rink is “closed” because it has recently been flooded to make new ice or warm weather has created bad ice. Please stay off the ice when the red flag is flying.

The Recreation Committee is organizing volunteers to assist the Public Works Crew with flooding the rink and providing routine maintenance throughout the year. If you are interested in helping, contact Rec Committee member Ty Cashen ([email protected]) who is coordinating the volunteers.

The ice rink is divided into an enclosed hockey area and an open skating area. For everyone’s safety, please avoid playing hockey on the open skating side. When it gets dark, the rink lights may be turned on via a remote button on the west side of the Heiden Haus. Once pushed, the lights will remain on for the duration of the evening. The skating rink closes at 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and at 11:00 pm on Friday & Saturday nights. The lights will automatically shut off near these times. Safe Skating!
