Narrative: |
|||||
During the month of December 2024, detectives assigned to the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) obtained information in reference to the manufacturing and possession of assault weapons. An investigation was initiated, and further information was discovered which revealed Camarillo resident, (S) Stanislav Skudarnov as the suspect. During the subsequent investigation of Skudarnov, detectives gathered sufficient evidence to substantiate probable cause for a violation of California Penal Code Section 30605(a)– [Possession of an Assault Rifle]. During the first week of January, 2025, detectives obtained a search warrant, signed by a magistrate of the Ventura County Superior Court for Skudarnov’s residence and property. On January 7, 2025, detectives assigned to the Camarillo SEU and Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) served the aforementioned search warrant at Skudarnov’s residence. During a search of Skudarnov’s residence and property, detectives located two AR-15 style lower receivers, one of which was un-serialized and had tool marks indicative of being self-manufactured, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.” Detectives also located an un-serialized Sig Sauer P320 pistol, an AR-15 upper receiver, multiple high-capacity magazines, and hundreds of rounds of various caliber ammunition. After the search, detectives arrested Skudarnov for the following violations: PC 30605(a) – [Possession of Assault Weapon], PC 27545 – [Unlawful Transfer of Firearm], and PC 30600(a) – [Transport, Import, Manufacture Assault Weapon]. Skudarnov was later booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Skudarnov’s bail was set at $100,000. The term “ghost gun,” is used to describe firearms which lack serial numbers. Additionally, ghost guns can be transferred without the use of a federal firearms license dealer, which makes the firearms untraceable by law enforcement.
