Safer Streets - New CA Law
California’s new “daylighting” law took effect January 1, 2025 (Assembly Bill 413). The law aims to make streets safer by increasing visibility at intersections and crosswalks.
Key Components of the Daylighting Law:
- No parking is allowed within 20 feet of crosswalks (marked or unmarked) in the direction of traffic.
- The 20-foot rule applies whether or not the curb is painted red adjacent to the crosswalk.
