SUMMARY:
On Friday, January 10, 2025, at 9:44 A.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a report of an assault at Del Taco in Rancho Cucamonga. A suspect, later identified as Cherice Harris, walked into the restaurant and ordered food, and for unknown reasons began yelling at the employees. Harris then jumped onto the counter and threw the cash register at two employees.
Harris fled the location, walked into a nearby business and asked an employee for water. Immediately after being given water, Harris spat the water in the employee’s face. The employee pushed Harris out of the establishment and a brief struggle occurred when both Harris and the employee fell to the ground. Nearby citizens witnessed what occurred and sprang into action by assisting the employee with holding Harris down until deputies arrived.
When deputies arrived, Harris was arrested and booked in at the West Velley Detention Center for PC 245 (A)(1)- Assault with a Deadly Weapon and PC 594 (B) (1)- Vandalism, with bail set at $40,000.
