GENASYS: Know Your Zone...some zones will begin repopulating soon - specific zones will be announced on Nixle

Repopulation of some evacuation zones will begin today, January 12, at 3:00 PM. While this is a positive step forward, it is essential that we maintain safety and accessibility for emergency operations.  Especially the fire personnel that is still working to fully contain the Eaton Fire.

Repopulation will occur by zone to ensure an orderly and safe return for all residents.

  • Details about the zones and their current status can be found on the Genasys Protect App by visiting Protect.genasys.com.
Further updates on additional zones will be provided on Nixle and Genasys, as conditions allow.

What to Expect: Conditions for Repopulation
To ensure a safe and efficient process, the following conditions will apply to all areas north of Grandview:
  1. No Street Parking
    • Through my executive order, there is no street parking permitted on any streets along Grandview and north of Grandview.
    • This restriction is in place to allow emergency crews, including SoCal Edison, full access to streets and power lines.
    • For additional parking, all city public parking lots are available. A map of public parking lots will be posted on the City’s website and social media platforms.
    • These parking restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
  2. Proof of Residency Required
    • To enter the evacuation zone, residents must pass through a security checkpoint.
    • Proof of residency is required; please have a valid form of identification ready to present.
  3. Health Precautions
    • The LA County Health Department strongly recommends that anyone repopulating their home wear an N95 mask due to potential air quality concerns.
    • If your property has sustained damage and you begin cleanup efforts, please note that doing so may forfeit any claims under the state or FEMA.
  4. Guidelines for Returning to Homes After a Fire
    • LA County Public Health has created detailed guidelines for returning to homes after a fire, including safety precautions and cleanup advice.
    • These guidelines will be shared on the City’s social media platforms.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to work together to restore normalcy to our community. Please follow the outlined conditions to ensure a safe and organized repopulation process.
