During the month of September 2024, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Street team conducted an investigation into Edwin Perez selling various narcotics.  Perez was identified as the operator of various social media platforms used to advertise and coordinate drug transactions within Ventura County.  During the course of the investigation, Perez offered to sell cocaine to an undercover detective.

Detectives were granted a search warrant for Perez and his residence in the 100 Block of Cedar Street in Oxnard by the Ventura County Superior Court.  On December 19, 2024, Narcotics Detectives served the search warrant and detained Perez at his residence. During the search, Perez attempted to discard a loaded, unserialized firearm by throwing it onto the roof of his residence.  As a result of the search warrant, detectives seized over three ounces of cocaine, more than 3000 illicit alprazolam pills, over 7 pounds of dried marijuana, nearly two pounds of concentrated cannabis in various flavors, one loaded unserialized handgun and over a hundred flavored nicotine vape pens.

Perez was arrested and booked for various narcotics and firearms related offenses including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful transfer of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale and offer to sell a controlled substance.

This case was submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.
