One man died in fatal in 5300 block of Hillside Monday afternoon.

DETAILS:
On January 13, 2025, Officers were dispatched to a major crash involving 2 motor vehicles on the 5300 Block of Hillside Rd. Upon arrival, they found a 2015 Subaru driven by Dylan Thomas Bird, male, age 37, had been traveling eastbound on the 5300 block of Hillside Rd. on the inside lane. A blue 2012 Ford Focus driven by a male, age 31, had been traveling eastbound on the right outside lane next to the Subaru. Mr. Bird changed lanes when unsafe, causing both vehicles to come into contact and lose control. Both vehicles struck a residence and a wooden electrical pole. Mr. Bird died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. A child passenger in the Subaru suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the Focus suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to an area hospital. Randall County Justice of the Peace Flores was contacted and responded to the scene. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.
