Disaster Preparedness: Resident Radio Program
In a major disaster, communications systems are often damaged or destroyed. Your cell phones, internet, and other sources of information may become useless.
With that possibility in mind, we have made the Bear Valley Springs Emergency Radio Team (BVSERT) an official part of the BVS Emergency System. The primary function of the ERT is emergency radio communications in case of a disaster.
The ERT has established the Resident Radio Program (RRP) to support this effort. This voluntary program connects the residents of BVS to amateur radio emergency communications.
For $25, the BVSERT will provide residents with a programmed radio and charger, along with training on how to use it to receive information. In the event of a disaster, the Bear Valley Police Department will activate the RPP network and use it to send information to the public.
