1/16/2025 Dusting of snow around 4pm. Use Caution if roads are covered.
Good morning,
Dusting of snow this afternoon. I am only putting this out in case a coating lands on the roads making them slippery. This snow layer may come down at some point during the evening commute. I don't see this happening but just wanted you to be aware just in case.
More importantly, watch out for extreme cold next week. Pets need to stay inside; pipes can freeze, and prolonged exposure can result in frostbite. Please check on elderly neighbors and make sure they are safe.
Stay safe & warm!

From NOAA:
Light snowfall beginning as early as noon today, and ending before midnight late this evening. A dusting generally less than 1" is anticipated, although portions of eastern PA near/north of I-78 could end up in the 1-2" range. While impacts are expected to be limited at most, some slippery spots could develop on any untreated paved surfaces for the evening commute. It should be noted that not everywhere is likely to receive a measurable dusting of snow, but the potential for a dusting exists within the area highlighted on our forecast snowfall map.
Hazardous Weather: Light snowfall accumulation potentially impacting the evening commute. Potential for snowfall accumulations less than 1", and up to 1-2" in portions of eastern PA near/north of I-78.
Locations affected: Much of our entire forecast area, including eastern and southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and northern Delmarva.
Timing: Periods of light snowfall beginning as early as noon northwest of I-95, and around 4 PM or later for the I-95 corridor, Delmarva, and southeast toward the coast. Ending by around 9-11 PM everywhere late this evening.
Impacts: Light snowfall accumulation could lead to untreated paved surfaces becoming slippery.
Confidence on occurrence: Moderate to high confidence (60-80%) in light snow occurring within the highlighted area on the forecast map, but lower confidence (50-60%) in exact locations that will receive accumulating snowfall, especially from around the Philly metro and points south.
Looking Ahead to Next Week: There is increasing concern of a relatively prolonged period of dangerously cold conditions starting Sunday night continuing through at least mid week next week. This could result in impacts to people, animals, and infrastructure. There will be an increased risk for cold weather health hazards like hypothermia and frostbite, as well as an increased risk for freezing water pipes and increased demand for heating energy.
