REMINDER: ALL GARBAGE AND RECYCLING CONTAINERS MUST HAVE LIDS
Dear Residents,
This correspondence is in regards to a series of ongoing complaints of garbage being blown from resident’s containers around town. The Health Department recommends labeling all garbage receptacles with your address and requires each receptacle to have a proper fitting lid that will not blow off in bad weather and prevents access to rodents and wildlife. The three major concerns of the garbage issue are addressed below;
- No garbage is to be put on the sidewalk before 6pm the evening prior to the proper pick-up day. This means recycling can only go out after 6pm on Tuesday evenings and garbage after 6pm on Monday and Thursday evenings.
- All garbage and recycling must be stored in a receptacle, and not merely placed on the sidewalk.
- No household garbage is to be put into or next to any public garbage cans along the street. This includes the dumpsters in the rear of Borough Hall, they are not for public use.
The above can be found in Butler Borough’s Code book, under Garbage, Refuse and Recycling, Chapter 129-1. Further violations will be subject to court summons and fines. If you have any questions, please feel free to email [email protected].
